Alternative Insemination

One of a woman's most significant journeys is experiencing motherhood.  The midwives of Journeys support women who want to be mothers but who do not have male partners.  

We offer information, support and services for lesbians and single women who plan to become pregnant through alternative insemination (artificial insemination).  We assist in navigating the details of choosing anonymous or known donor, finding an appropriate sperm bank and attaining the proper laboratory tests for the mother.  We provide assistance with the inseminations as well as education for the woman to perform the insemination in the privacy and comfort of her home with her partner or attendant of choice. 

Preconception Counseling can be an important part of preparing to become a parent.  We offer private visits to discuss the issues involved in preparing to become pregnant including nutritional counseling, charting of menstrual cycles, emotional preparation and physical strengthening. Visits are tailored to a family's individual needs and personalities.
